Project for one of my classes. We had to do a subvertisement that gave a social or political message and it had to use the visual styles of popular commercials to get the point across.
Think about it for a sec, the US is the richest country in the world that has all the luxuries you could ever think of available to its people, so why are our suicide rates still so ridiculously high? The culture in this country is geared toward buying your happiness and filling the void in your life with cars, clothes, and gadgets, could it be that the happiness these things bring us is just a lie and that we're missing out on what could make us truly happy?
logo, slogan, and visual style obviously ganked from Apple, please don't sue me.

we can't blame society for people's choices, if they want to kill themselves over the empty void in their lives then so be it yes it is sad but it was the choice that they made and no one is to blame but themselves not the media not governmnet not the shit that life may have thrown their way, people may not be able to control what is around them but how they react to it.
I guess that old saying is true then. Money really can't buy happiness. Awsome pic.

Well, let's be fair. Our "Capitalist" society isn't actually very Capitalist. While we still bask in the glory that was true Capitalism, what we have is a very watered down version which accepts certain types of Socialist programs in it. There is something to be said of the people who raised those who are killing themselves. Perhaps it's because they told them that buying an iPod is the greatest thing in the world, or perhaps it's because they grew up in a crappy family.
The problem, according to others (not me), is that with Capitalism there is a top and bottom. No matter how great life is for some, it's always going to be bad for others. It's considered fair because in America we are all given the same chance.
Perhaps Capitalism does cause a higher rate of suicide. Speaking of which, where are the studies which says we have a high rate in comparison to more socialist countries? I'd actually find it interesting to read. Anyhow, back to the topic. Perhaps Capitalism does lead to some cases of suicide, but so does certain types of music. Should music be banned just in case? Anyone who can easily be convinced to do something can essentially be blamed for that person death, so should we then illegalize thought and even opinion?
We can both agree that materialism is petty. However, I can't agree that Capitalism is the direct reason that people are killing themselves. If an alcohol company advertises Vodka in a TV advert should they then be arrested if someone gets into a drunk driving accident a kills someone? In which case, we should all be very quiet because often we say things which might cause someone to go off themselves. Just my perspective. I do like the art though, it's very nicely done.
I never said anything about capitalism or the banning of, I just think the people of this country and other wealthy countries need to realize that there's more to life than buying and selling stuff.

A collection of the most beautiful and amazing square photographs I found among my favourites. Please have a look and give these artists the attention they deserve!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More

Be as loud as you can while in life, cause if you don't, no one will be able to hear you when you have left.
You are not a human being having a spiritual experience, but a spiritual being having a human experience.
