I'm a big fan of the H.P. Lovecraft mythos and the huge assortment of bizarre creatures therein. It's fun to think of designs for them because their descriptions in the literature are purposefully vague so you can kinda let your imagination go wild. This is a byakhee, a strange insect-bird-human chimera that other alien beings have tamed to ride across the void of outer space. I have a few more Lovecraft designs in the works so I guess this could evolve into an on-and-off series.
